Verena Heinisch conducts research on the topic of energy systems modeling, with a focus on decentralization, sector coupling and scenarios for the energy transition in Europe. She holds a PhD degree from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her PhD thesis is on the techno-economic modeling of decentralized energy systems on different scales and includes publications on the topics of prosumer households, energy communities and smart integrated cities. Verena is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Renewable Energy Systems group at the University of Geneva, where she is working in projects on decentralized renewable energy supply in Switzerland and tools and concepts for long-range energy projections.
