Mallory James (she/her) studies how technoscientific institutions configure definitions of responsibility for innovations that can become publically known as harmful, thereby pursing engineering studies research contextualized within political-economic analysis. Mallory is currently working on a book project regarding knowledge cultures and technological change in Australian carbon capture and storage engineering, based on extended ethnographic fieldwork. In collaboration with Munich colleagues, she is also investigating how European scientists construct concepts of "excellence" while applying for early-career scientific research grants.
