Kathleen Hancock’s current research focuses on the politics of renewable energy. Her book in progress uses political coalition, lobbying, and advocacy theories to describe and explain renewable energy policies and outcomes, observing that U.S. states’ uptake of renewable energy is not based on political party to the extent national politics suggests. Her most recent publications is the Oxford Handbook on Energy Politics for which she is co-editor and author of three chapters. She has published on hydropower as a resource curse, renewable energy center in West Africa, and energy security in the developing world, among other topics.
