Georgia Savvidou is currently conducting a PhD at the Energy Technology division of Chalmers University of Technology, a position she decided to take on after spending 5 years as a Research Associate at the Stockholm Environment Institute. She is intrigued by the complexities of the energy transition and her work covers areas such as energy systems modelling and the intersection between energy and sustainable development. Briefly, her project aims to increase knowledge about the conversion to a 100% renewable electricity system in a sustainable and resource-efficient way, while ensuring security of supply and competitiveness.
She has previously worked on development and climate finance, and the interactions between climate action and sustainable development. She has been part of the development of NDC-SDG Connections, an online tool that connects Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as Aid Atlas, an online platform for visualizing international development finance flows.Georgia holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Cyprus and a M.Sc. in Energy and Environmental Sciences from the University of Groningen, Netherlands.
