Kemper is keenly interested in the roles of companies in making and resisting social and environmental change. She researches the behaviour of companies under pressure from activists, the creation of "markets for virtue", and the incentives that will allow businesses to achieve sustainable operations. Alison is interested in the role of companies and managers in achieving sustainability. Her research interests focus on the response of corporate directors to activist ratings.
