Bregje van Veelen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Durham University in England. She currently works on the European REINVENT project, researching the governance of decarbonisation initiatives in carbon-intensive industries. Prior to this, she completed her PhD at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). There, she looked at the democratic qualities of community-owned renewable energy initiatives. In her research she draws on perspectives from human geography, sociology and political science. She is also one of the founders of RIPPLES, an interdisciplinary group of early career researchers whose work focuses on the interaction between policy and practice in local sustainability initiatives.
