She works in the field of relationships and sexuality education, and is an advocate for the prevention of violence against women in Australia. Romy joined the Energy & Poverty Research Group at the University of Queensland as a PhD candidate in January 2016. Her research explores how women are collectively organising to improve their energy systems, and the impact of this process on their empowerment. Romy is particularly interested in the gendered nature of energy poverty, and how changing social practices around energy systems and technologies can be used to leverage transformations in gender relations.
