Dr. Magdalena Krol is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, at York University. Dr. Krol received her B.E.Sc. and M.E.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto. Dr. Krol’s area of expertise is in groundwater remediation, specializing in the development and optimization of site remediation technologies. Her current research in this field involves making thermal remediation technologies more energy efficient, as well as, linking renewable energies to remediation activities. Dr. Krol’s research interests also include green roof design, optimizing geothermal heating, and modelling microbially influenced corrosion of used nuclear fuel containers.
